For my A2 Media coursework, Given the choice I have decided to produce a newspaper. I will have to create both a front cover and the first inside page.
I chose to create the newspaper as I feel that I already have skills of the programmes used to create one. I have used inDesign, where I created a practise newspaper last year, which has given me an idea into what I am going to be using and how it works to create a professional looking piece of work. I also use photoshop in and out of school regularly, which will be a key skill to creating a newspaper.
The scanning at the top of this post is my sketch of 'The Bromley Times' Newspaper, I want to use this layout for my newspaper as it has all of the conventions of most newspapers. It has a logo in the top left corner, with a plug underneath. The main headline story is just underneath that. Both of the pages I looked at had the structure of five columns, they both contained a lot of information which was laid out very tightly, leaving hardly any of the page blank, along with many adverts aimed at the target audience. From looking at all the conventions I could tell that the target audience age was middle class, for example, one of the adverts was advertising a dancing school for young children, so the reader could send their own children there.
I want to aim my newspaper at a younger audience, mainly teenagers, therefore I will keep the main conventions the same but change the adverts, using adverts aimed at a teenage audience.
